POEM

i carry a lighted candle
through a small window
of time
to kindle life within me

nine months later
as an orange-red sun seeks refuge
in night’s embrace
i travel through my body
to reach you
i live each breath of yours
you are a face in today’s moon

through winding tributaries
of blood-conduits
i race to keep pace
with the flow of my blood
your blood
i shiver through contractions
of every muscle in the womb
their finer movements converge
in your tiny being

in  creases of smiling thoughts
i live a secret dream with you
sharing unspoken words.
i turn the needles of my clock
for dawn to step in early
weaving tomorrow’s face

magic in your first cry
in answer to the call of the world.
the river of love gushes out
in touching you
i touch the face of god

as dawn descends this morning
a twin sun rises

along-side the diurnal morning star.
POEM

i remain an open window

how many summers
do I remain open as
winds blow hot, blow cold
into this ghost house of absence?

images move in like hungry hawks
tear open the insides only to
move out in sunset thoughts
in their homeward flight

in ruthless gesture they walk in
announcing the death of moons
satiated, they move out
the window now opened wider
desires coagulate on their way
from dreams to nightmares.

if only i could down the shutters
if only i could raise a wall

grenades of male sharpness
fly in unabashed
and pierce through my consciousness
i watch helpless
the pile of shrapnels rise
yet remain the mute chiseled window
linking outside to inside

an innocent destiny remains grilled
to concrete walls
of the ghost-house of absence

if only i could pen verse

if only i could write a song.

Rhyme-memories

Rhyme-memories

As Jack and Jill
went up the hill
stark-still she stood
in earnest longing
to discover secrets
of a lost childhood

trudging along
the forest path
hand in hand with
Red Riding Hood
she longs to feast
on granny’s love

time summons,
as the clock strikes one
she climbs the mouse-path
up grandfather’s clock
in recall of faded memories
when the pendulum chimes
and sings aloud
hickery-dickery dock

but as the clock strikes at the day’s end
her fairy-tale thoughts
on fantasy-wings
fall off the edge
of childhood dreams
and plumb the depths
of dark thoughts of yet another
disfigured dawn

in the filtered light
of a melancholic morning
she resumes
the meaningless ritual of survival
beside the straw-basket
of white flowers
weaving funeral wreaths.

Yet another poem

Yet another poem
deep winging dreams
nest in cosy corners of the mind
waves of emotions flow into
the dead conchshell of thoughts
dormant dreams wake up
gather memories
across the isles of time
words nestle between thoughts
invite rhyme
lines sketch a rhythm
rhyme, rhythm, words, lines
curated in time
converge
together they infuse life
into mute emotions
the silent verse expands
like incense fragrance
and culminates into yet another poem.
